Over the past 15 years, Clodagh McKenna has become one of the most recognized faces and brands in Ireland’s Food & Lifestyle sectors.
With her passion for food combined with her business savvy, Clodagh has developed her brand into an emerging business empire encompassing Clodagh’s Kitchen restaurants – located in Arnotts and Blackrock, her television shows and cookbooks. November 2013 Clodagh launched her Clodagh’s Kitchen menu on board Aer Lingus airline and in June 2014 she will launch her new menu for the transatlantic flights. She is the first ever celebrity chef to take over the menu in the history of the airline.
To date, Clodagh has published four books — her first book The Irish Farmers’ Market Cookbook, which was a bestseller, was published by Harper Collins in November 2006. Her second book, entitled Fresh From the Sea was published in 2009 by Gill and Macmillan. Clodagh’s third cookbook, Homemade, published by Kyle Books in 2010 was awarded the prestigious Gourmand award for Best in the UK category. In 2011 Clodagh launched Homemade in the States to great success. It is available in bookshops and lifestyle stores across America including, Barnes and Noble and Anthropologie. Homemade was also published in Germany, French and Italian. Clodagh’s most recent cookbook, entitled ‘Clodagh’s Kitchen Diaries’ was published in October 2012 by Kyle Books and published in the US on March 2013.
Clodagh filmed two television series to accompany her Irish Farmers Market Cookbook, entitled ‘Fresh From the Farmers Markets which debuted on RTE 1 in 2007. Part two of the series was broadcasted over the summer of 2008 and was also picked up by media outlets in the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Her third series, Fresh From the Sea, opened to rave reviews in June of 2009 on RTE 1. The series also aired in New Zealand the autumn of 2009 and on UKTV the spring 2010. The fourth series of the same name aired June 2010 on RTE 1.
More recently Clodagh has taken the US by storm with her hugely popular US show, Clodagh’s Irish Food Trails which aired on PBS and Create TV reaching audience levels of 15 million. She will be filming a follow up to the series in Spring 2014.
Outside of her media work, Clodagh has travelled the world giving cooking demonstrations in the USA, Italy, the UK and Holland. Autumn of 2008 saw Clodagh take on the fashion world with her exciting new ‘glam’ kitchenware range. Her personally designed 1950’s-inspired aprons are available from her website and throughout Ireland and the UK.
In September 2011, Clodagh launched her brand ‘Homemade by Clodagh’ in Arnotts department store in Dublin, which is the largest department store in Ireland. Under the banner ‘Homemade by Clodagh’ there is Clodagh’s Kitchen (a restaurant), The Food Court and Clodagh’s Bakery.
2013 has proved to be another momentous year for Clodagh as she launched the second of her Clodagh’s Kitchen Restaurants in Blackrock this summer. In addition to her restaurants, Clodagh has recently launched her exciting new daily magazine-style food blog, The Daily Digest, which has quickly become a food hub for food lovers around the globe. Says Clodagh, “As a chef and restaurateur, I live and breathe food and I hope to take you with me as we meet the amazing people making an impact on fresh, local and fantastic food, share with you stellar expert advice and take you along as we travel to many of the world’s most beautiful countries in our never ending search for the next stunning meal.”
